Armenian Republican Delegate Elected for 8th Time to RNC

WATERTOWN, Mass.-Bob Semonian of Watertown was an at-large delegate for former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney at the Republican National Convention (RNC), held in Minneapolis from Sept. 1-4. This marked Semonian's eighth straight election as a delegate to the Convention.

Active for years in Republican politics on both the state and national levels, Semonian served as state vice chairman of President Ronald Reagan's presidential campaign in Massachusetts, state chairman of Pat Robertson for President, state co-chairman of Bush-Quayle, and state chairman of Pat Buchanan for President.

Earlier this year, he was on Romney's presidential steering committee. He has also served as deputy state chairman of the Massachusetts Republican Party as well as chairman of the Watertown Republican Town Committee.

He was appointed to the Appalachian National Scenic Trail Commission by former President Reagan.

Semonian graduated from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla., with a BBA in marketing.

He is known for having motivated six state governors-of Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Tennessee, Louisiana and Vermont-to come out with proclamations recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

He currently serves as a state committeeman of the Massachusetts Republican Party, having been initially elected to that committee in 1972. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Massachusetts Bay Community College in Wellesley, Mass., appointed by former Governor Romney. He also serves on the president's evaluation board and is the trustee liaison to the Foundation Board of the college.

Semonian is also the treasurer, director and a founding partner of the Improper Bostonian magazine.

He is a board member of the Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance, a member of the St. James Armenian Church in Watertown, a trustee of the Armenian Assembly of America, and a member (former secretary and treasurer) of the Knights of Vartanm selected as its Man of the Year in 2007.

Semonian has been included in "Who's Who in the World," "Who's Who in America," "Who's Who in the East," "Who's Who in Business and Finance" and "Who's Who in American Politics."
