Journalism Professors from Turkey Visit NEWz

Three journalism professors from universities in Turkey visited the University of Massachusetts Boston and the New England Ethnic Newswire on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008. 

They were (from left) D. Beybin Kejanlioglu, of the Department of Radio Television and Film, Ankara University; Dr. Zekiye Beril Akinci Vural, an associate professor at Ege University in Izmir; and Cengiz Cicek, of the communications faculty at Akdeniz University, Antalya. Their translator, Oz Bedii (far right), who works with the U.S. State Department, accompanied them.

The group was in the Boston area from Oct. 7 to 11. The professors were eager to learn more about ways to effectively teach principles of media literacy, as well as ways that news media promote ethical standards.
